Becoming an Open & Affirming Church

On October 6, 2024, the members of the Trinitarian Congregational Parish of Castine voted to adopt the following covenant, making us an open & affirming congregation in the United Church of Christ.

The Outreach Guide to the Bible and Homosexuality - Biblical scholars like Walter Brueggemann and Amy-Jill Levine provide new perspectives on reading biblical passages that have historically been used to justify an anti-LGBTQ stance.

"10 Bible Passages That Teach a Christian Perspective on Homosexuality," a recent article in Sojourner's Magazine, points to the biblical basis for an open & affirming stance.

Copies of Walter Wink's publication Homosexuality and the Bible are available outside Pastor Andi's office.

View the recording of the ONA 101 Webinar from the Open & Affirming Coalition, which the ONA core team and others watched in August, 2023.
