Three years ago, Church Council voted to fund a Community Compass Navigator serving the Castine-Penobscot area for one year. This Navigator works with churches to discover unmet needs in our communities. As an example, our Navigator has worked with a young woman to apply for unemployment insurance, help a number of clients navigate fuel oil assistance programs and seek mental health counseling services.
There are three other Neighborhood Navigators on the Blue Hill peninsula. It is our sincere belief that as other Castine and Penobscot churches recognize the benefit and positive effects in Castine and Penobscot communities, they will join us in supporting this important mission and outreach.
