Pastor
Rev. Dr. Andi Lloyd was born in Connecticut, and has lived most of her life in New England. Graduate school in biology & ecology took her west for several years, to Alaska and then Arizona, after which she returned to New England to teach at Middlebury College in Vermont. She was a professor of biology at Middlebury from 1996 until 2020 and served as the Dean of the Faculty and Vice President for Academic Affairs from 2012 through June, 2019. In her work as an ecologist, Andi studied the effects of climate change on forests in Alaska and Siberia and taught classes on plant ecology, evolution, and climate change. She is the co-author of the book Letters from the Ecotone: Ecology, Theology, and Climate Change.
Andi left Middlebury College in June of 2019 to pursue a call to ordained ministry in the United Church of Christ. She graduated from Andover Newton Seminary at Yale Divinity School in May of 2022, and on June 5, 2022 was ordained to ministry in the United Church of Christ. She began serving as TCP's settled pastor on July 5, 2022 - and is overjoyed to call Castine home! You can read more about Andi's work as a scientist - and access the text of her sermons - on her website, www.andilloyd.com.
